BENJAMIN F. KUHNS, son of John, was born at Chapman's Station, January 22, 1861. He was educated in the public schools, Indiana State Normal School and Lock Haven State Normal School. He cultivated the farm until 1880, when he became a telegrapher and was employed by the P. & R. R. R. Company at Emaus and on the North Penn and Catawissa and Williamsport branches. He later removed to Allentown and became a clerk in the store of Koch & Shankweiler, where he remained sixteen years. In 1898, with Daniel J. Kerschner, he established the Kuhn & Kerschner clothing store at 719 Hamilton street, which later included 721 Hamilton street.

Mr. Kuhns is a member of Greenleaf Lodge, No. 561, F. & A. M., Harrisburg Consistory, 32d deg., Rajah Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S., and Allentown Lodge, No. 130, B. P. O. E. He is a member of Christ Lutheran church, of which he was one of the thirty-three charter members and a member of its first council. He married, December 24. 1887, Ida S., daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Snyder) Koch, of Kuhnsville, and has two children-Frances I. and Marguerite E. He resides at 1653 Linden Street.
