ARTHUR KISTLER MERTZ, son of Llewellyn was born May 6, 1882, in Allentown, where he graduated from the High School, also from the Allentown Business College. He learned the baking trade in his father's establishment and later was connected with him and his older brother, Charles H., in the business. The sons, in 1903, bought the business from their father and conducted it until 1908, at which time Arthur Kistler Meat bought his brother's interests and since conducts it alone along modem and successful times.

He and family are members of the Bethany United Evangelical Church; socially he is an Odd Fellow and politically a Republican.

In 1906, he married Winifred F. Breder, a daughter of Loft Breder, of Catasauqua. They have a daughter, Elizabeth E. Mertz.
