Was a chemist in the Lehigh, Car, Wheel and Axle and died at the age of 88, when he was a consultant to Babcock and Wilcox, successor to LCWA.

A chilled, cast metal product, Elverite, was named after him.

Born in Camden, N. J., January 9, 1866, son of Joseph and Matilda (Morgan) Elverson. Educated in the public schools of Camden, N. J.; preparatory schools, Philadelphia, Pa.; and graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. of B. S., 1887 and E. M., 1888.

Since 1890, connected with the iron and steel industry in the Lehigh Valley District of Eastern Pennsylvania. From 1890 to 1893, was Mining Engineer for the Crane Iron Works, Catasauqua, Pa. and during the period 1899-1900, was Division Superintendent of The Empire Steel & Iron Company at Oxford, and opened up their mine workings in that district. Later became connected with the Lehigh Car, Wheel & Axle Works. Now Treasurer and Director of the Lehigh Car, Wheel and Axle Works; Director of the Lehigh Foundry Company, the Empire Steel and Iron Company, and the Allentown Portland Cement Company.

Member of the University Club of Philadelphia, Pa.; the Engineers Club of New York City, and the Catasauqua Club of Catasauqua, Pa. Member of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity (University of Pennsylvania).
